How We Identified a Key Problem With a Particular Potting Material

A client approached us with a problem encountered with coils we did not manufacture. The particular potting material used on large, high reliability coils used in the generation of electricity, seemed to show signs of improper curing after placed in service.

Upon examination of the product and conferring with an outside laboratory, we discovered that a by-product of the curing cycle was remaining within the potting material and venting after the coil was in service.
